How online counseling with Kellie works

Talking to and opening up to a stranger can be very scary and awkward at first. You need a chance to feel relaxed and to ask me any questions you might have. If you have any concerns, let me know. I want to know about what is going on in your life and your goals so that I can best help you.

Each person is different, and it is important that you feel comfortable with the counseling/therapy process. (Some people use the word counseling, some people use the word therapy, both terms mean the same thing.)

One thing to think about is your goal for our sessions together and also your overall goals, wishes, and dreams in your life. Everything is connected, so let me know about anything you think is important, no detail is too small.

I usually recommend that people start seeing me once a week. If needed, I can see you twice a week. It can be helpful to have an extra session, when needed, to get more support. When you are ready, we can talk about transitioning you to sessions every other week, or once a month. It is about doing what is best for you.

Most of my clients feel that a standard 55 minute counseling session is plenty of time. But if you have had a lot going on and feel like that you need extra time, we can also do a 75-minute session. Just let me know when you schedule if you would like more time, so I can make sure I schedule everything properly. I never want you to feel rushed.

Because I focus on helping people get to the root of the problem (instead of just putting a bandaid on things) counseling can be difficult. Making changes is hard. It is kinda like going to the gym, really tough sometimes, but if you keep at it, the results are worth it.

Benefits of Online Counseling

You are a busy person, and you have a lot on your plate. Even if you have time to drive across town to see a counselor, you don't want to spend your time doing that. You have better things to do. You need something convenient and private. You choose where you have your sessions, cuddled at home with your favorite blanket, at your office after a long day, or anywhere else that you want. You just need a good internet connection and a computer or phone. I see clients all over Florida, and in some circumstances, I can see you if you are briefly traveling to another state or country. Just let me know, in advance, so that I can double-check all the fine print of your destination.

Most people enjoy online counseling, but it’s not for everyone. If at any point you feel that you want to go a different direction with your therapy, just let me know, and I will be more than happy to help point you in the right direction.
